The Dime Store History Series
During the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, inexpensive “dime novels” introduced readers to exciting tales of the American West, explorers, soldiers, and historical figures. While entertaining, they often blended fact with fiction and sometimes sacrificed historical accuracy for adventure.
The Dime Store History series is inspired by the accessibility of those small books—but with a different mission.
Each volume explores an overlooked chapter of Florida's past through concise, engaging storytelling grounded in historical research. Rather than replacing traditional history, these books are intended to complement it by introducing readers to remarkable people, places, and events that deserve a place in Florida's story. We hope these books encourage you to explore Florida’s past with a renewed appreciation for the people who helped shape it.

Kevin Rose
Author & Historian
Kevin Rose has called Florida home for most of his life. A proud graduate of Florida State University, he turned a lifelong fascination with history and a talent for storytelling into a career as the owner and operator of Spyglass Travel & Tours in St. Augustine, Florida.
Through years of sharing the stories of America’s oldest city, Kevin discovered that some of the most fascinating chapters of history are often the ones people know the least about. Dime Store History grew from a desire to bring those stories to a wider audience—combining careful historical research with an engaging narrative style that makes the past approachable, memorable, and fun to read.

Angie Rose
Editor & Creative Director
A native of East Tennessee and a lifelong Tennessee Volunteer, Angie Rose has a love of history, geography, maps, and the stories that connect people to places.
As editor and creative director for Dime Store History, she works alongside her husband, author Kevin Rose, to bring each book from manuscript to finished publication. She handles editing, layout, design, and the visual details that give the series its distinctive look, while occasionally getting pulled into a historical rabbit hole that began with one perfectly reasonable question.
Years of experience in writing, editing, design, and running a tourism business in historic St. Augustine have all proven surprisingly useful in the process.
Together, Kevin and Angie have turned a shared enthusiasm for Florida history into a growing collection of stories about the people, places, and events that deserve to be remembered.
History isn't being rewritten
